Welcome to Celtic Canoes

We aim to provide a high quality canoe hire service and\or guided trips with British Canoe Union \Welsh Canoeing Association qualified staff, together with friendly advice, information and transport after the river journey.

We are based in Glasbury-on-Wye, five miles from the famous bookshop town of Hay-on-Wye. The River Wye is the UK's premiere canoeing river and from Glasbury down provides ideal trips for the beginner and more experienced canoeist from Easter through to the end of September.

Our boats are strong and comfortable Old Town Discovery's for either two or three man crews. The larger boats can also accomodate a small family (two adults and two small children). Please see our 'Prices' page for more information

Half day trips through to 5 day camping trips are catered for. We can advise on the most suitable stretches of the river to match your skills and experience and provide all the neccesary information (campsites, B&B's etc) for those on multi day trips.

The River Wye flows through some of the finest rural scenary in England and Wales and as such is unique in being designated a SSSI (Site of Specific Scientific Interest) along its whole length from source to sea. The lower Wye Valley below Hereford is also designated as an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The river is also unsual in having a Right of Navigation as far up as Hay.
